In 2023, the NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate & Environmental Justice’s PlaNYC: Getting Sustainability Done incorporated climate education as a citywide priority.
2. Launching Climate Action Days
In 2023–24, the NYCPS Office of Energy and Sustainability launched Climate Action Days: four days dedicated to celebrating climate action in every school.
3. Passive House For Everyone celebrates the inaugural Climate Action Day
PHFE was proud to host a workshop at Boys and Girls High School (BGHS) for the inaugural ENERGY Climate Action Day, focused on Energy Efficiency and Passive House Building Science in 2023.
4. Celebrating the second annual Climate Action Day
Continuing our partnership with Boys and Girls HS, PHFE celebrated the second annual Climate Action Day in February 2025.
PHFE Presentation
PHFE Co-Founder In Cho delivered a presentation on the five principles of Passive House (PH) and engaged students in a discussion about why Passive House is essential for climate solutions.
PHFE Training Center Showroom
Students from all CTE programs were able to receive a tour of the PHFE Passive House Training Center Showroom for the first time.

Hands-On Training
BGHS Students participated in a hands-on activity in the pods in the electrical room, building an energy efficient Passive House wall assembly. They applied PH concepts of insulation, air sealing, and thermal bridge free construction in this exercise. This exercise will be replicated in the future Passive House Training Center.
